A Dark Pirate's Cave

In a dark, dark cave
On a foggy beach
Right on the stroke of midnight
Voices I could hear and digging below
A band of pirates led by one I know
That darstardly pirate Blackbeard!

"Put ye backs in it ye lazy lot!"
Echoed words from the depths ........
"Ye dig like women!" he ranted and roared
"Ye'll be the death of me yet!"

I stopped and listened to his raucous words
Then crept along in the dark
I wanted to see these pirates of old
I always heard they were colorful and bold
But I got the shock of my life!

Ahead of me and just to the right
I saw an eerie sight
Blackbeard and his men were transparent to me
Ghosts digging for all eternity
Alive again in the night

I hid and I waited until it was quiet
Then I crawled from behind a rock
The ghosts had gone and I lit a torch
Searched and scraped and looked all around
Until I knew that I had found
The buried treasure spot

Janine, remember telling us out here in cyber-land about spinning a yarn? Here in the States, we have a similar tradition - ghost stories spun 'round the campfires. It's tradition to take turns around the fire when camping at night to tell a ghost story each. This would be great for a campfire story!

ARHHHHHGGGG.......(did I spell that right??) I reeeeeeeeeeeeally like this one Janine. You do have a way with writing fantasy poetry! Puuuuuuuure magic. Janine this is a wonderful tale. Written with fine detail and really opens the readers mind to a whole other world. WELL DONE. Shannon

Janine, I found this to be enjoyable to read. I do like pirate stories, and this one's a nice one to fall into and feel as though one is there... good job with this... always enjoy reading your work.. Lori
