A Mirage In The Distance

Knowing you're there for me
when I've had a tiring day
is enough to keep me from going astray
like a mirage in the distance
to a thirsty woman.

To have you listening to me
when I whinge and moan
and I'm not being very nice
is like a mirage in the distance
to my troubled psyche.

To feel your arms hold me
when I can't go on any more
makes me feel secure and warm
like a mirage in the distance
to a weary traveller.

To know that you love me
when I'm feeling old and sad
is a balm to me
like a mirage in the distance
to a lost soul.
